Unified Shelby County school district will serve free breakfast


I worked at a school where every child went through the line in the morning to get breakfast. The children were told ugg shoes sale to go through the line and punch in their number. It did not matter if they wanted breakfast or not. The children were even told you can throw it away after you get the food. Many children got their breakfast and then immediately put it in the garbage. This was a huge waste of food, but the numbers being punched into the system were all that mattered.

Yes, it's tax dollars, but not any state or local money used for this.


I tired to tell all of you a few months ago that the combined districts made a huge change in the federal calcs for Title I money. No mention of this in any budget anywhere. This is another unspoken benefit of the merger.


To be honest, since only 36.8% of SCS is economically disadvantaged and 85.1% of MCS was, this guy running the food services is doing a he!! of a job managing money if he can provide free breakfast and dinner to every school in the system.
