TERA still doesn't have authentic mid to end game onboarding that's a true pity for incoming new players as they'll need to rely on the kindness of strangers or external forums to learn their appropriate ability rotations. This is not unique to the MMO genre whatsoever as every [Tera Gold PS4 game forces you to try it, and having trekked through MMO menus since Ultima Online I am set. TERA is not nearly as complicated as the majority of the games out there -- but you would think there could be some concerted effort to bag the Maplestory Mesos console audience.

As for the way TERA has evolved over the years (and if it's worth picking up again for those who stopped ages ago): it has gotten markedly better in certain ways, but stayed stagnant in others. Like all MMOs it eventually got flying mounts and mining opened up a little more, but its world is much smaller than it sounds. That world, mind, is largely secure on consoles, as the only significant performance problems I ran into occurred in hub cities.

Experience gains and questing have been substituted to allow a much better leveling experience, but Bluehole never really figured out how to build a rewarding endgame -- largely relegating it to a (massive) dungeon grind or (the woefully neglected) PVP battlegrounds.

Despite these nitpicks which are unique to the console variants, TERA is still absolutely worth trying out if you've never delved into it before. It's something that I plan on sticking on the side rather than as a main course, but those of you who are already chowing down TERA should probably stay with the PC version.

TERA is old. Plain and simple, but just like all games which embody the fun factor that we want them to, age really does not bring it down considerably. TERA mixes things up for the genre it's in by including real-time battle with dodging, magic, and a variety of attacks all functioning like an action sport. Originally published in certain areas in 2011, and also to a wider market in 2012, TERA has had lots of time to make its way to being among the very popular MMO's with lots of players still encouraging it. TERA's learning curve isn't as steep as most other games in the genre, which makes it more of a match in the console universe than other MMO's would be.
