A Pegasus Airlines aircraft is pictured after it skidded off the runway at the Trabzon airport by the Black Sea in northern Turkey yesterday.
A commercial plane that skidded off a runway after landing in northern Turkey dangled precariously off a muddy cliff with its nose only a few meters from the sea.

Some of the 168 people on board the Boeing 737-800 described it as a “miracle” that everyone was evacuated safely.

Images show the aircraft on its belly and at an acute angle just above the water. If it had slid any further along the slope Jaleel Johnson Jersey , the plane would have likely plunged into the Black Sea in the Turkish province of Trabzon.

Other images from Dogan news agency showed smoke emanating from the trapped commercial plane.

The Pegasus Airlines flight had taken off smoothly from the capital Ankara and landed in Trabzon, but skidded off the runway in the northern airport.

The incident late on Saturday created panic among the 162 passengers on board Pegasus Airlines Flight PC8622. The six-member crew, including two pilots, was also evacuated and Pegasus said there were no injuries. Flights were suspended at the airport but resumed again yesterday.

Passenger Yuksel Gordu told Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency that words weren’t enough to describe their fear.

“It’s a miracle we escaped. We could have burned, exploded, flown into the sea,” Gordu said.

Another passenger, Fatma Gordu, told the Dogan news agency that there was a loud sound after landing.

“We swerved all of a sudden,” she said. “The front of the plane crashed and the back was in the air. Everyone panicked.”

Trabzon Governor Yucel Yavuz said that investigators were trying to determine why the plane had left the runway. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation.

Facebook Inc. is considering changing how it prioritizes news stories in users' feeds to give better placement to media outlets deemed more trustworthy, as the company continues efforts to limit the exposure of false news, people familiar with the matter said.

Under its new approach, Facebook would evaluate parameters such as public polling about news outlets, and whether readers are willing to pay for news from particular publishers. Such variables would inform its algorithm that determines which publishers' posts are pushed higher in the feed, one of the people said.

Such a move would thrust Facebook into an even more active role in deciding what content is acceptable on its site. The company hasn't decided whether to proceed with the shift, and it may choose not to do so.

It is also considering other changes to the news feed, some of which it could announce as early as Thursday. The company plans to change how it handles video, by giving priority to those that users engage with and playing down those that generate views by automatically playing when seen in a person's feed.

Facebook is also looking to double down on a strategy of promoting content shared by friends and family over posts published by news outlets, other people familiar with the situation said. One of the goals would be to encourage more conversation among Facebook users. There is some consternation among publishers that this strategy could lead to a significant reduction in traffic referred from Facebook over time.(Agencies)

BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The National Meteorological Center on Sunday issued a blue alert on rainstorms, forecasting heavy rains will continue in parts of southern and southeast China.

The observatory lowered Saturday's yellow alert on rainstorms to a blue one, the least serious level in China's four-tier color-coded weather warning system, adding the areas to the south of the Yangtze River will be hit the hardest by heavy rains from Sunday to Monday morning.

Downpours or rainstorms will continue to sweep Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces. Sporadic heavy rains are expected in parts of southwest China's Yunnan Province and Tibet Autonomous Region.

In the next three days, areas in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, north China and northeast China will see showery rain, according to the observatory.

BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- China's treasury bond futures closed mixed on Friday, with the contract for settlement in December 2017 closing 0.11 percent higher at 97.56 yuan (about 14.8 U.S. dollars).

The contract for settlement in March 2018 closed 0.11 percent higher at 97.71 yuan. The contract for settlement in June 2018 had no trading.

The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on and profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.

The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013.
