One of the most scenic destinations in Forza Horizon 6 is Hirosaki Castle. Between the cherry blossoms, mountain roads, and hidden collectibles nearby, it quickly became one of my favorite places to drive through on the Japan map.

If you want the fastest and cleanest route to the castle, here’s the path that worked best for me.

Where Hirosaki Castle Is Located

Hirosaki Castle sits in the northeastern side of the Takashiro region. It’s actually pretty easy to recognize once you zoom out on the map. The entire castle area is surrounded by a moat and a large lake, so it stands out immediately compared to the surrounding roads and forests.

The castle itself is positioned in the middle of the complex, surrounded by Sakura trees and traditional Japanese scenery.

Best Route to Reach the Castle
Main Road Route

The simplest route is to stay on the main asphalt roads leading into northeastern Takashiro.

As you approach the area, look for:

A large circular lake
Water channels forming a moat
Dense cherry blossom trees
A clearly marked landmark zone

The roads around the castle are wide and smooth, making this route ideal for hypercars, GT cars, and photo cruising.

If you are starting from the southern or central parts of the map, following the highway-style roads north into Takashiro is usually the fastest option.

Route From Tateyama Kurobe and Satoyama

If you’re driving down from the Satoyama region or the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route area, there’s a much more scenic approach.

The mountain asphalt roads naturally guide you south toward Takashiro. This route has:

Long downhill corners
Tunnel sections
Elevation changes
Great drifting opportunities
Excellent mountain scenery

I honestly recommend this route over fast travel because the transition from alpine roads into the castle grounds looks incredible, especially during sunset or spring weather conditions.

Why Players Visit Hirosaki Castle
One of the Best Photo Spots

Hirosaki Castle is one of the game’s landmark photography locations. The black-and-white castle design combined with the pink Sakura trees makes it one of the easiest photo challenges to complete.

Pull close to the castle courtyard and the photo objective should trigger quickly.

It’s also one of the better locations for taking clean screenshots because traffic around the area is usually light.

Nearby Barn Find: Mazda 787B

One of the biggest reasons players head to Hirosaki Castle early is the nearby hidden barn containing the legendary 1991 Mazda #55 787B.

The barn is located southwest of the castle area. You’ll need to leave the main paved roads and follow a dirt trail looping through the nearby countryside.

The car is absolutely worth the trip. The 787B is one of the most iconic endurance race cars in automotive history, and it feels amazing on the high-speed Japanese highways in FH6.

Hidden Treasure Car Route

After leaving the castle area, continue north along the alpine roads and you can also work toward unlocking the hidden 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale.

This makes Hirosaki Castle a really efficient stop because you can combine:

Landmark discovery
Photography challenges
Barn Find exploration
Treasure car hunting
Scenic mountain driving

into one single route.

Best Cars for the Drive

For the smooth castle roads, I had the most fun using:

Japanese sports cars like the Nissan GT-R or Mazda RX-7
Lightweight rally cars for the nearby dirt sections
Classic cruisers for photo sessions
High-speed hypercars on the alpine approach roads

The area works well for almost every driving style.
